From an early age, Cynthia Kiser Murphey knew she was destined for a role in hospitality. She moved from her hometown, Kansas City, to study hotel management in the “Entertainment Capital of the World” and has since opened three successful megaresorts (soon to be four!), including the world’s largest hotel. As one of the first female presidents on the Las Vegas Strip, she led a fourth property to an improved brand position and record EBITDA. Cindy founded one of the gaming industry’s first diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, which trained more than 40,000 “Diversity Champions,” and has personally mentored hundreds of employees from diverse backgrounds -- enthusiastically guiding their journey from entry- and mid-level positions into industry leadership roles. She has launched and led community relations efforts to reshape public opinion about gaming in jurisdictions where the industry was new, helping attain regulatory approval in every case. Cindy was named Executive of the Year by Human Resources Executive magazine as well as one of 25 ''People to Watch'' by Global Gaming Business magazine. She is proud to be a founding sponsor of the Veterans’ employee network group and a 20-year Trustee to the UNITE HERE National Fund, which provides excellent health benefits for hospitality industry employees nationwide.
