Dame Vivian Hunt is the Chief Innovation Officer at UnitedHealth Group. In this new role, she will work with their technology, growth and strategy teams to pursue new technologies, improve process design, interpret data, apply insights and improve the productivity of their systems. Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Dame Vivian served as a Senior Partner for McKinsey & Company, UK and Ireland, where she provided strategic advice to leading firms in the private, public and third sectors, with a particular focus on strategy, innovation and performance transformation. Dame Vivian also served as Managing Partner for the UK and Ireland for seven years from 2013-2020 and prior to that led the firm’s EMEA Life Sciences practice. She is a globally recognized thought leader on productivity and skills, leadership, and diversity topics, and has co-led McKinsey’s flagship work on the impact of technology on work, economic development and linking Inclusion and Diversity to financial performance. This includes: Stakeholder Capitalism (TED Talk, 2020), How to make ESG real (2022), Does ESG really matter--and why? (2022), Diversity wins: How inclusion matters (2020), Solving the United Kingdom’s productivity puzzle in a digital age (2018), and The Power of Parity: How advancing women’s equality can add $12 trillion to global growth (2015). Vivian is on the board of several influential business groups, charitable and education bodies including, as Chair of Teach First, the UK’s leading education charity; Chair of the Black Equity Organisation, the UK’s first national Black civil rights organisation, and sits on the Harvard Board of Overseers. Vivian is a Trustee of The British Museum and sits on the governing board of the Southbank Centre. She was named ‘The most influential black woman in Britain’ by the Powerlist Foundation. The Financial Times identified her as one of the 30 most influential people in the City of London. In 2018, she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for services to the economy and women in business. In 2022, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Strategic Management Society. She is an alumna of Harvard College and received her MBA from Harvard Business School. She has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of Warwick, an Honorary Doctorate from the University of York and an Honorary Fellowship from University College London (UCL).
