My ultimate career objective is to empower engineering solutions to combat climate change—this has led me to energy storage. I’ve been an energy storage professional since the sector’s early days and am now the Head of Asset Performance for Gore Street Capital. I’m responsible for the technical operations of Gore Street’s fleet globally. We’ve now reached almost 300MW of operational assets and continue to grow at an exponential rate. I’ve been directly involved with most aspects of an energy storage project. My core responsibilities have involved liaising with suppliers and asset managers to maximise our battery systems' uptime whilst targeting the best balance of risk and reward in our revenue strategy. I am now focusing on engineering improvements to the fleet, to cement Gore Street as an industry leader in system safety, security and management. Thanks to the company’s continuing success, I’m now building a team of asset managers to continue our ‘hands on’ approach to operations. Some of my key achievements at Gore Street include acting as technical lead for our new EPC contracts (designing SATs, specifying ERs, defining KPIs and warranties etc), the RTM streamlining process completed Q4 2021, onboarding ~200MW of assets and for my part to play in the overall average availability and £/MW/yr values of our fleet. Before Gore Street, I’d add to this the operation and asset management of the first grid scale battery in FFR as well as the first battery despatched on the Balancing Mechanism. I am passionate about energy and the environment, and enjoy technical challenges. Before starting my professional career, I completed an MSc in ‘Sustainable Energy Futures’ from Imperial College London, where I graduated with Distinction. This multidisciplinary degree gave me a firm understanding of transmission systems' core engineering requirements, and has given me the fundamental knowledge I’ve relied upon for accepting new challenges and building my experience.
