Art Gensler said it best, “The problems that we need to face are re-educating ourselves and our clients and our communities, that the old solutions aren’t going to solve problems. We have to find new ways of thinking about things.” I am a builder at the core; trust, innovation, discipline and having a bullet smart mentality drives me to change the industry. I have been blessed to learn from some of the greatest mentors the construction industry has ever produced, real titans of change. Leaders who just don’t talk about it, but who live it, every day. I love building people as well, free thought, working in teams of teams, beating goals regularly, all while continually redefining the industry are engrained in my daily reach to help the construction world redefine itself. What I truly embrace about DPR is that we have two common goals, Respect the Individual and Change the World and we do this daily, everywhere. The greatest challenge in the industry is thinking something can’t be done. That’s where we go first. Currently, I am a National Assembly Leader at DPR. I work with world-class people to create, develop, design and implement our Prefabrication Assembly Facilities (PAF’s). These facilities breathe the latest in 5S and Lean manufacturing methodologies into everything we build in them. We developed four common disciplines in our facilities. We combine the best in construction and manufacturing. We created cutting edge work cells that could expand and contract within 15 minutes of production needs while capturing real time production rates. We have made these PAF’s community based, where the typical manufacturing borders were disabled. And we balance our labor through the PAF’s. DPR does this while continuously driving a enhanced level of cross training craft workers, teaching new skills. This has allowed us to organically growing our QA/QC teams in through our facility to project cycle of continuous improvement. Prefabrication, Modular, Off-site Construction, DMC, DfMA, DiMC, Generative Design means many things to many people, but the foundation remains the same; it allows people to be people; safely, effectively and productively, without missing life’s most important moments. It allows people to flourish in and out of the office. That’s my passion and hopefully one day my legacy.
