David Pekoske has extensive experience in government service, transportation safety and security, private sector executive management and non-profit governance. He is currently Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration. He is a graduate of the U. S. Coast Guard Academy. He served on active duty in the Coast Guard for over 30 years, retiring as the Vice Commandant of the Coast Guard in 2010. In that position he was also the Component Acquisition Executive and the senior leadership sponsor for the Coast Guard’s innovation program. As a flag officer, he commanded the Coast Guard’s Pacific Area, the First Coast Guard District (New England, New York and northern New Jersey) and was the Assistant Commandant for Operations at Coast Guard Headquarters. He has a Master of Public Administration degree from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a member of the adjunct faculty at American University where he taught public policy in the Key Executive Master of Public Administration Program. He was member of the Board of Trustees for the U. S. Coast Guard Academy from 2006-2008. David Pekoske is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the InfraGard National Members Alliance. He has served as a member of the Naval Studies Board of The National Academies, the Board of Advisors of the Jewish Institute for the National Security of America, the Advisory Board of Heroes Linked and the National Security Advisory Council of the U. S. Global Leadership Coalition.
