Bio

Over the last 20 years, I have broken ground to influence the development and adoption of innovative deep-tech solutions and data science applications worldwide. From becoming the first Mexican woman to obtain a physics Ph.D. from Stanford University to becoming an award-winning Physicist, Data Scientist, and TV host, I am known for translating complex ideas into lay and entertaining terms. I have flexed with uncommon ease between business leadership and media roles, working across industries including quantum computing, data science, Wall Street finance, corporate tech education and training, keynote speaking and multi-platform media production. You can hire me for deep-tech consulting, impactful keynotes, technical training, managing technical and engineering products, and mentoring + coaching. Through my work at VTT in Finland, I offered quantum computing consulting. I also served as a Business Development Consultant at IQM, where I positioned the company as a market leader in Quantum Computing products and services. As a Chief Data Scientist at Metis, I developed, maintained, and disseminated a complex, full-stack curriculum for data science and machine learning bootcamps and corporate trainings. In addition to my research, I have delivered impactful keynotes to corporations such as IBM, Merck, General Motors, WIRED, Boehringer Ingelheim, Allstate, Modis, the Smithsonian, UPM Raflatac, Housemarque, Young Presidents Organization, TED, 5 independent TEDx, and others. My award-winning media work includes hosting hit science TV shows on Discovery, NatGeo, Travel Channel, Weather Channel and PBS NOVA. And I'm a frequent guest on leading channels including CNN and Univision. There is a 3D life-sized statue of me and 119 other women scientists on an exhibit in Washington, DC and Dallas, TX by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). I hold a Ph.D. in physics, where I worked with Nobel Laureates Bob Laughlin and Steve Chu. I have helped numerous workshops and initiatives for young people such as Technovation, American Museum of Natural History's SRMP, New York Academy of Sciences, Academia de Mujeres Tulancingo (México), Mujeres en Tecnología MENTE (Costa Rica), Techkriti Festival (IIT Kanpur, India), American Physical Society's CUWIP conference, NSF's Celebrity Science Speaker (US Virgin Islands). Currently, I reside in Finland with my husband Neer and my two kids. In my free time I enjoy traveling, exploring nature, and running. Connect with me at debbie@sciencewithdebbie.com and @debbiebere
