My work covers a broad range of research and applications in the space of democratized technology, decentralized governance, and online and offline collective participative processes. My current focus is around promoting and preserving the digital commons, building the technology and policy infrastructure for data collaboratives, and devising frameworks for collectively-focused, rather than centrally concentrated, AI. Previously, I’ve taught classes at Stanford University on building technology for good and creating a more secure world for political activism and engagement in civil society. Projects built in these classes reached over 20 million people across the globe.
