I’m an ICT-professional with a strong practical and academic background. Since April 2021, I've been working as Senior Principal Security Researcher at Secureworks' Counter Threat Unit. Before joining Secureworks, I worked as a joint-CIO for eight cities and municipalities surrounding Tampere, the largest inland city in Scandinavia. I also occasionally did some consulting and gave public speeches through my own business. I have a long practical history working in ICT industry. Between 2000 and 2007 I worked in the software industry in various positions. I started as a software developer and made my way to a CTO. During that time, I was involved with agile development for the first time and have been an agile practitioner ever since. Between 2007 and 2013 I worked as a CIO in Finland’s 4th biggest teleoperator. During that time, I was responsible for managing various ICT projects involving internal and external parties. For instance, I reorganised our internal service desk functions following ITIL principles to better support changing business requirements. In 2013 I started as a senior consultant and trainer in Sovelto and worked there until I started in my current position. Areas of expertise: - Information management - Cyber Security - Agile methods (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP) - Lean IT - Enterprise Architecture - Modelling (ArchiMate, BPMN) - ITIL - Office 365 (deployment and management) My academic background is in information systems, semiotics, and learning/teaching. My Ph.D. thesis was about enterprise architecture implementation in Finnish higher education institutions. Besides the enterprise architecture, I have researched online learning/teaching from both student’s and teacher’s point of view. Latest area of interest is information security in cloud services, such as Office 365. In January 2017, I joined the department on information technology in University of Jyväskylä as a lecturer (now on a leave of absence). For areas of expertise, please see the teaching profile below.
