Since the start of my career as a member of the Tesco Graduate Scheme through to my time more recently as Finance & Commercial Director for Furniture Village and now at Fishpools, I have built a considerable multi-site retail finance, commercial and operational skill set in business's of varying size and complexity.With excellent technical and operational knowledge, I have also developed strong leadership and communication skills both internally and with external stakeholders from banks to trade insurers and beyond, hence I am able to be a strong advocate for my business.I have a very strong understanding of the macro-drivers of the retail sector, whilst also being comfortable 'rolling my sleeves up' to ensure I am close to the detail of those factors which influence the performance and effectiveness of a multi-site operation. Combined with the ability to balance patient and 'measured risk taking' I provide a highly effective entrepreneurial resource.In recent years I have added to my experience with general management responsibilities in areas such as online, marketing and people management.As a significant equity holder previously, I understand the importance of shareholder value, profit/cash visibility and performance and have driven both significantly.I am a team player, not afraid to lead and critique the organization in a constructive way through strong relationships and detailed understanding of all business functions - from buying to accounting. In addition, I am a strong advocate of the importance of a clear, agreed strategy for the business and the need for all functions to drive towards its achievement, whilst recognizing and having experience of the potential need to take tough short term decisions as circumstances dictate.
