Co-founded first company (dial-up ISP) right out of college. Slept on floor and drank crappy coffee to bootstrap. Co-founders took Marketing Guy and Tech Guy roles so I took Phone Guy and started selling stuff. Sold ISP and co-founded ad-supported software company growing to 35M users. 25-year old CEO - made a sh*t ton of mistakes. Had to layoff company and fire myself after dot com bust. Co-founded and bootstrapped enterprise anti-spam company (using AI) to $500K/qtr, got Sequoia for A round, sold 6mo later. Played VP at public company for 6mo. Co-founded quant hedge fund and played financial advisor. Co-founded VMWare competitor turned edge computing company backed by Benchmark and others. Left to explore the world of SaaS. Joined Indian martech company as first US employee. Signed first customers, built Sales, Marketing and CS teams. Now, co-owner in a digital marketing agency taking our team to the next level helping B2C startups get that next round of funding with solid retention strategy and execution. And yes, still making mistakes.
