I'm a freelance content strategist and copywriting trainer. From July 2006 - August 2022, I ran my own 6-figure copywriting agency, managing a team of in-house creatives as well as a wide network of freelancers. This experience has equipped me with a detailed understanding of both the creative and the business sides of content creation. As a freelancer, I specialise in two areas: 1. CONTENT STRATEGY I work with marketing agencies to help them deliver practical content strategies to their clients. As a former agency owner myself, I have a strong focus on implementation: ideas are worthless unless they can be actioned! Recent projects include: o Creating an internal comms strategy for a business services unit within a large corporation to help them generate referrals from colleagues in other parts of the organisation. o Running executive-level workshops at a global tech company to create a corporate mission statement and messaging framework. o Helping a university law department redesign its IA to make it easier for new students to find and consume the necessary content. o Acting as a virtual Head of Content for a new digital agency, enabling them to broaden their service offering to their clients. 2. COPYWRITING TRAINING I also design and deliver training in SEO copywriting techniques and copywriting best practice. Students range from freelance copywriters requiring some 1-to-1 support developing their SEO skills, through to larger editorial teams in universities and publishing companies. I prefer to limit the number of delegates at any one course to 12, to make sure I can give everybody enough individual attention.
