Columbia Sportswear had a problem. Although they were deploying changes to their production SAP system twice a week, that is not fast enough. But with their current ChaRM solution, they could not go faster; the SAP developers and release managers had to spend 8 hours just for documentation outside of ChaRM for each release. Without more automation, they could not achieve the goals set out for them by the business. By introducing them to ActiveControl, I helped them reduce the manual documentation from 8 hours to 30 minutes. Columbia Sportswear now deploy changes daily with automated rigor and necessary documentation. Helping businesses like Columbia Sportwear achieve continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) to maximize their SAP systems potential is why I come to work every day. I have been in software development for over 20 years as a programmer, architect, manager, and technical sales. I have always been fascinated with the act of implementing change in software. There are two facets to software development. The first is creative; how to implement design patterns to achieve a goal. The second is rigor; how to safely deploy the change with automated analysis and testing (CI/CD).
