Bio

I am a Cybersecurity researcher and data science enthusiast with a strong background in Cybersecurity industrial research, AI/ML, Cloud technologies, Computer Systems and Networks and Software development. My interests include Intrusion detection and prevention technologies, Email and Web security technologies, Threat detection, Threat Intelligence, Threat Hunting, Honeypots, Malware analysis, Pentesting, and application of AI/ML to Cybersecurity. Working as an Email Security Researcher I had the opportunity to research and develop smart AI/ML systems to detect Phishing, BEC/CEO Fraud, Email Scams and Malicious URLs. These systems were integrated into Secure Email Gateway products. Working as a Threat researcher I had the opportunity to work closely with a SOC team and developed solutions for Threat Hunting and Threat Intel. Working as a Pr. Malware researcher at Ebryx I had the opportunity to carry out applied industrial research to solve the problems faced by the security industry. I'm working on intelligent automated techniques to detect malicious domains, web exploits and malware using machine learning methods. Working as a Lecturer at ITU I taught Information Security to final year undergrad students. Working as a Lecturer at Massey University I had the opportunity to learn and implement advance teaching, learning, content development, and management practices implemented by leading universities to impart quality education. During my doctoral research I had the opportunity to explore intrusion detection technologies. The research investigates the detection and classification of known malicious network streams, their variants, and new or novel streams using machine learning techniques. I had the opportunity to publish and present my work in International conferences and Journals. I have also attended numerous local and international security conferences. At the university I have taught/tutored Computer network and Python programming to undergraduate students. I have also co-supervised undergraduate security projects. In a past life I worked as a System administrator and System Engineer for a Webhosting company and an ISP.
