I am an award-winning technology journalist with experience covering nearly every aspect of the technology industry, but my primary focus is cybersecurity and privacy. I tend to focus on ways security overlaps with other disciplines. I enjoy data analysis and uncovering patterns, and am interested in pursuing more data science and data journalism opportunities. I am currently a managing editor of features at Dark Reading, covering security for an enterprise IT audience. I find the untold stories about the people securing the world, one day at a time. I look for ways to highlight new ideas and technologies in the security industry. I was one of the co-founders of Decipher, a cybersecurity magazine focused on analyzing and explaining security news and trends. Prior to that, I was at InfoWorld and CSO Online, where I provided technical analysis and commentary for IT administrators, software developers, and security professionals. I tested and reviewed business networking and security equipment at PCMag and CRN Test Center. I've written about enterprise applications, software, networking, and open source for both mainstream and trade publications, including IEEE Spectrum, Dark Reading, PCMag.com, SecurityWeek, and Tom's Guide. I started my journalism career writing business news at Women's Wear Daily and covering networking infrastructure news at Forbes.com. My journalism builds on my experience in IT as a help-desk consultant, network administrator, software developer, and product manager.
