I am a Finance Enthusiast, Data scientist, social development and growth advocate, and social entrepreneur. My mission is to impact the world positively by creating financial solutions that champion savings, wealth creation and investments for the low to middle income people who have been left out by the traditional banking systems, while supporting the United Nations SDG 1(No Poverty). I am the Co-Founder and CEO of Pigibank, a fintech startup that exists to serve the unmet savings and investing needs of over 400-million Africans who are financially excluded and miss out on opportunities to secure, invest and grow their savings. I strongly believe data provides a road map that intersects the creation of well-architected, secure, and scalable solutions to maximize community impact. As a data scientist, I hone the ability to utilize data in finding practical emerging trends, actionable pain points, and opportunistic areas that help improve the community and create sustainable solutions for the people of Africa. I have worked as a banker at Diamond Trust Bank and on projects alongside USAID, Africa lead, Hivos, Hewlett, the World Bank, Mwalimu Sacco, and National Government of Kenya. I believe it is important to encourage women to contribute to these male-dominated industries and for me, being labeled a data nerd and techpreneur as an African woman is a badge of courage. To put it into perspective, there are only 12% of women FinTech founders and co-founders globally. As an active supporter and mentor to young ladies navigating the tech industry, I have admittedly built the strategic team at Pigibank to be women-led.
