I am passionate about how we create representations of our surrounding world. Currently I am an Associate Professor in AI at Oslo Metropolitan University, and head of the OsloMet/SimulaMet Artificial Intelligence Lab. Where I design bio-inspired computer vision solutions for biomedical applications and big-data signal processing pipelines. I have a Ph.D. in neuroscience, and I am deeply interested in translating algorithms and processes developed in nature to solve practical problems in Machine Learning and develop smarter AI. My areas of competence are Computer Vision, Neuro-evolution, Spiking Neural Networks, Deep Learning, Sequence and Temporal Processing and Causal Inference in Real-Time agents. I have interest in collaborating with the industry, and I am always open to talk to the public to increase AI awareness and promote the responsible use of smart tools.
