I look at how we achieve scale in pharmaceutical research, from data generation, provenance and rights management through to scientific computing, security, privacy and optimizing flow through of transactional systems. I try to move ideas cross-industry in areas of reliability, optimization, user experience and data lifecycle management. Current research interests include applications of formal systems specifications in life sciences, quantum computing, dimension reduction in very large problem spaces, better vectorization of problems, microfinance, micropayments and affiliation networks, and long term problems in data dignity (read Cory Doctorow).
