Bio

I was a Member of Parliament (1996 to 2020) and Mayor (2001 to 2020) in Singapore for over 20 years. During my tenure, I held chairmanship positions in various Government Parliamentary Committees such as National Development, Environment and Water Resources, Home affairs and Law. Besides that, I was also the Co-ordinating Chairman of 15 PAP Town Councils responsible for managing 1 million public housing flats (residential and commercial) in Singapore. At present, I am the Independent Director of 4 Public listed firms in Singapore and adviser to several firms in the Built environment industry. My experience entails areas such as legislations, policies, governance, township management and sustainability.
