Currently leading Semapa Next, a venture capital firm that invests in teams of exceptional founders at Series A and B stages, from Lisbon to Europe. Semapa Next wants to be a long-term partner of European-based companies whose ambition is to become global category leaders. Previously, I served as the Managing Director of Techstars Lisbon in partnership with Semapa Next. We invested in 20 companies in 2 years and I continue to do portfolio management of these companies on behalf of Techstars. As a founder and CEO, I understand the best practices and challenges that arise from growing the team from a couple of founders to 25 people, accelerating the client base from 10 pilots to hundreds of paying clients in 40+ US states or scaling a product from 1 feature (MVP) to a client solution. I co-founded, led as CEO and sold an EdTech SaaS company selected for 2016 Google Demo Day. For 4 years, I was the CEO of MyChild – a company that helped Early Education centers to send paperless daily reports to parents. Prior to MyChild, I spent around 6 years in management consulting where I advised multinational companies in strategy and operational challenges such as market-entry opportunities, process reengineering and growth strategies across different industries.
