WeProtect Global Alliance is the largest and most diverse global movement to tackle online child sexual exploitation and abuse. It works to put the crime of online child sexual abuse on the global agenda, provide tools for its members and drive greater international collaboration. Having been supported by the UK Government since 2014, it is now an independent international institution. Iain has led the work of WeProtect Global Alliance since 2017, first as International Lead at the UK Home Office's Tackling Exploitation and Abuse Unit, and from 1 April 2020, as its first Executive Director. Iain led the Alliance's Addis Ababa Summit in December 2019, co-hosted with the African Union, delivered a new Global Strategic Response framework for transnational action against online child sexual abuse and collaborated with PA Consulting to produce the first ever publicly available Global Threat Assessment. He was the Chair of the End Violence Against Children Fund Steering Committee, overseeing the Home Office's £50m donation between 2016 and 2021 and was a member of the Executive Committee of the Global Partnership to End Violence Against Children. Iain has an extensive background in security and justice issues across the UK Government, including a posting in Kabul, where he managed the UK's £3.8m counter terrorism and anti-corruption justice programme and work as the Cabinet Office Assessment Staff's Senior Analyst on South Asia.
