Bio

I am the Head of Profession for Intelligent Transport at WSP and the Immediate Past-Chair of ITS(UK). I am responsible for technical excellence and the development of the business. My current areas of work are predominantly in network operations, connectivity, safe systems, technology futures and Connected and Autonomous vehicles. I was instrumental in the establishment and growth of Mouchel’s ITS consultancy business and in 2007 I was appointed as the business leader responsible for the growth, direction and success of the business. This was achieved through strong and visionary leadership, forming collaborative relationships with partner organisations and developing strong and diverse management, technical and delivery teams. I led the expansion of the ITS business into the Middle East and Australasia. I continue to play, a leading role in the development and implementation of Smart Motorways in the UK and Australia. I was a founding and ever present member of the PeekMouchel Joint Venture Board, responsible for the overall direction, strategy, vision and performance of the JV's TechMAC contracts. After playing a key role in the successful bidding process for the National Traffic Information Service – a 10 year contract with the Highways Agency, I became a Director of the JV company, Network Information Services Ltd. I have also managed a number of Customer Information Systems projects on behalf of Train Operating Companies and Network Rail. I have written a number of technical papers which have been published in professional journals, such as ICE Proceedings, and presented at various conferences in the UK, Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan and New Zealand. I am an active Supervising Civil Engineer, accredited by the ICE. I am a UK Representative and English Speaking Secretary on the World Roads Association (PIARC), Task Force B2 (having completed TF B1), in 2020 I was appointed as member of Technical Committee 2.1 on urban mobility. I am a member of the TRB Freeway Operations Committee.
