As an experienced software developer with over 22 years of experience, I have a diverse range of skills and expertise that I bring to the database community. With a background in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, and Visual C++, I have the skills and knowledge to develop software across various platforms, including Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, and PowerPC. I have over 16 years of experience in PostgreSQL and EnterpriseDB (a PostgreSQL fork) internals DBMS development, including working on future development and performance enhancement features. I am also a contributor to the PostgreSQL open-source community. I have a strong background in analyzing and optimizing database performance, with over 7 years of experience benchmarking and profiling PostgreSQL engines to identify and fix performance bottlenecks. In addition to my work with databases, I have over 22 years of C and C++ development experience on Linux, Windows, Solaris, and HP-UX, and over 2 years of experience in embedded systems programming for microcontrollers, ARM7 processors, and XScale network processors. I have also gained expertise in a variety of other areas, including Linux device driver development, client/server application development on n-tier architectures, network programming (IP, TCP, UDP, compression, encryption), Linux kernel network module development, VOIP protocol implementation (MGCP, SIP, RTP, TCP/IP, RTCP), and experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and HBase. I am honoured to be recognized as one of the most influential people in the database community in 2022 by the Redgate 100.
