I'm proud to lead OpenNebula, the open source Cloud & Edge Computing platform. Founded in 2008, OpenNebula has enabled thousands of organizations around the world to build open clouds with unique, innovative features. We are now developing an innovative breakthrough platform to build “Edge-as-a-Service” environments that connects corporate users with existing and new cloud/edge infrastructure providers, including local data centers, hyperscalers and 5G/telecom operators. From February 2022, I am also Chairing the Edge and Cloud WG in the European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud. Senior technology executive and entrepreneur with strong strategic vision and experienced in building, managing and scaling businesses, research projects and teams at infrastructure software and deep technology companies. Broad experience in the field of large-scale distributed systems, and cloud and edge computing infrastructures. I am passionate about innovation, open-source and technology shifts that have profound impact on economy and society. With a Ph.D in Computer Science and an Executive MBA, I am one of the pioneers of Cloud Computing, top-cited author in the field, and ARITMEL 2020 Computer Science Award - Spanish Scientific Society for Informatics - for my exceptional scientific contributions to cloud computing. As a researcher and professor, I have held positions with Berkeley Lab, Harvard University and NASA, and appointments as expert, strategist and consultant for the European Commission, the World Economic Forum, and several companies and national governments.
