In 2017, I volunteered at a public school in Zimbabwe to teach kids about wildlife conservation. While teaching, I casually mentioned to them that I, too, was born and raised in Africa. 'And your hair isn't shaved off!!' they cried! They were surprised to meet an African woman traveling the world alone, studying Computer Science in a far-off country who, most importantly … didn’t have her wild curly hair shaved off! I’ve always known that whatever I become, I will work to help people across Africa. But right then, at that moment, I knew what I really wanted was to keep challenging the stereotypes about African women, to keep pushing myself forward and to set an example to every little girl in Africa, to encourage them to be their best and to certainly not be discouraged from a career in STEM. I am currently working as a software engineer in VR and AR. I graduated with a Computer Science degree from the University of South Florida and a masters degree in Digital Art and Sciences (VR/AR) from the University of Florida. I have a strongly international background, having worked, volunteered, and studied on 5 continents. I speak 3 languages fluently: English, French, and Arabic. I'm highly interested in growing my network of women in tech, especially in the XR field. Please shoot me a message.
