Bio

Ivana Donevska joined Adtalem in August 2022 as Vice President of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Prior to Adtalem, Ivana joined USAA in April 2018 as an Executive Director responsible for establishing the Anti Money Laundering (AML) Data and Analytics department. Her teams focused on AML data, analytics and technology solutions and innovations to support AML operations and cost savings. Prior to USAA, Ivana worked at BMO Financial Group as the lead of Research and Development in AML. She was Vice President and Quantitative Analytics Lead for AML. During her time at BMO, Ivana served as the founder of the first AML Data Science team, led the first enterprise wide Big Data implementation project and piloted machine learning for transaction monitoring models. Ivana also piloted the first big data in-house solution targeting AML false positive reduction (30%) and enabled approximately $1.5MM annual savings for the department. Ivana’s team served as the SWAT team for the BMO CAMLO while tackling automation, complex technology work and researching new risk and money laundering detection models. In addition, she sponsored a Machine Learning and Advanced Analytics practicum for the Master’s in Financial Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where her student group was awarded first place at the master’s level competitions. Additionally, Ivana has an established Data and Analytics portfolio in Healthcare Analytics through her work at Accretive Health where her team innovated in the machine learning and analytics field for healthcare cost management. Ivana received her Executive Management Certification from the University of Chicago Booth and her Master’s in Computer Science from Purdue. Ivana was a regular presenter at the “How I Became a Quant” Panels for the International Association for Quants in Finance, Princeton Quant Conference in Chicago, Financial Crime and Modeling GFMI Conferences, Northwestern’s SPS Master’s career fair and similar industry events. She is an internationally published author with dblp listed papers. Her work in Bayesian Networks and recommender algorithms has been published by Purdue University and presented at renowned computer science conferences such as IEEE – ICSC, IWGS, etc. In her spare time, she competitively sails, climbs, bikes, skis, travels and reads.
