I have a practical close-up to a mix of areas: startups, people management, software technology across full stack, horizontally and vertically, mobile apps, IoT, geotech etc. One of my long-time passions is maps, and I've been lucky to work with maps and geo-data technologies since digital mapping was still a novelty. I have started, managed and sold my own tech startup Nutiteq, where I did everything besides code writing: business development, finances, sales, marketing, product management etc. It was an effective bootstrapper, building a leading edge tech product with less than 5 employees. The startup was finally bought by another, much larger startup CartoDB (now CARTO), one of the innovation leaders in Location data Intelligence area. Before Nutiteq I was CTO of Reach-U, another startup from post-dotcom era and Location-Based Service (LBS) technology solution provider on an international scale, in partnership with Ericsson, the world leader in the market. Probably atypically, I completed an MBA in technology management before starting my own startup. I learn new things almost every day: in the GIS world I know most the open source stack from self-learning, and I've given talks and workshops in the main GIS conferences. I can read and a write in SQL, Python, iPython/Pandas, Javascript (Node.js), Java, Objective-C, C#, Swift, Kotlin, PHP, Bash and others, but I prefer more to leave this to the specialised professionals. In sw management I've learned that waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, DevOps and others don't have the magic recipes to deliver quality tech on time. They do provide some useful tools but every team, culture and company needs to build their own optimal methodology. I've done a lot of tech for tech itself. I'm now looking forward to apply my background, capabilities, urge to learn and create better real world, also outside IT.
