Bio

Jasper is a former entrepreneur and partner at a renowned early stage venture capital fund. He focuses on software applications and new market opportunities with cloud, AI and new frontier tech. He established HV Capital's Berlin office and B2B software team and has been responsible for more than 12 investments e.g. Verbit.ai, Sastrify.com, Hadrian.io, Ultimate.ai, Linearity.io, LegalOS.io and Lingokids.com among others. He focuses mostly on supporting to find product-market-fit, finding the right go to market model, fundraising and expanding into new markets (often the US). Jasper considers himself lucky that he had very early peaks into deal making and venture investing. Growing up in a merchant’s family he internalised the principle of “a gentleman’s handshake”. In 2002 at the age of 22, he joined HV as a summer intern and got caught by the team’s love for venture investing. During his educational years he spent time living in England, Spain and Latin America. He holds two degrees in business administration and graduated both with first class honours from Lancaster University Management School, England, and the European School of Business (ESB) Reutlingen, Germany. Jasper also worked as a researcher at RWTH Aachen for his (still unfinished) PhD, where he helped Professor Malte Brettel set up the university’s Centre for Entrepreneurship. Jasper knows from personal experience what founding and running your own company means. Before joining HV, he bootstrapped greatcontent.com, an online platform selling creative texts in 18 languages to clients around the globe. After years as the single founder and CEO, Jasper sold the platform to a publishing group. Scaling his company from zero to thousands of customers was an eye-opening journey. During this time he started investing in more than a dozen startups. Before his entrepreneurial stint, Jasper worked in corporate finance and strategy for The Boston Consulting Group. Jasper relaxes by reading The Economist and sci-fi books. He gets lost with game consoles, playing drums or going sailing. As he has a Lego rocket, A-Wing, Batmobile, and Tallneck on his work desk, he humbly accepts the ‘tech nerd’ label.
