Jean is GM for Financial Services at Shoprite, responsible for the strategy, team and P&L of the Financial Services Business. Jean came from Mastercard, where he held the role of Senior Account and Business Development Manager focusing on Financial Services clients in Cape Town. Before Mastercard, Jean was a Senior Corporate Strategy Manager in Accenture’s Management Consultancy Practice primarily focusing on Financial Services, Corporate Strategy, Business Transformation, Restructuring, Divestitures and Post Merger Integration. Jean was also the Accenture Insurance lead in South Africa. He has a good balance between Commercial, Finance and Management skills and uses it to his advantage when analysing business opportunities, shaping deals and negotiating contracts Before joining Accenture he spent 3 years in Financial Services as a Commercial Investment Manager (Barclays Retail & Commercial Bank - Internal M&A) and a Business Performance and Analytics Manager (Standard Bank - CIBI) Prior to Financial Services he helped launched a low cost airline in South Africa and worked as an audit manager for Greenwoods Chartered Accountants (Baker Tilly International) in South Africa & the USA Jean is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA), CIMA, ACT (Corporate Treasury) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Stellenbosch
