Bio

Graduated from Witwatersrand University with a degree in electrical engineering, and have been involved in Internet technology most of my professional life, but with a strong commercial focus. Started at Telkom in 1994, working on the initial Internet infrastructure in South Africa. After some time in the early internet industry, founded Antfarm Networking Technologies, South Africa’s first streaming and webcasting company. Now working as a Machine Learning Field for Cloudera, helping customers explore large data sets and put machine learning models into production. Created www.limn.co.za in 2012, a blog dedicated to the art of data visualisation and doing occasional consulting for corporate companies looking to move beyond pie charts. Shortlisted for an Information is Beautiful award in 2015.
