Bio

I am always happy to talk with those interested in digital accessibility/inclusion for the over one billion people, globally, who have disabilities/impairments. Exploring a career in the digital accessibility industry? Want to know how to begin your organization's digital accessibility journey? Please feel free to get in touch. I started my digital accessibility career in 2006 on the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) IT Accessibility Team, consulting across the organization on how to make web, Windows Desktop, and mobile/tablet experiences accessible and usable to persons with different disabilities. I joined LinkedIn in 2013, where today, as part of our Accessibility Leadership, I am Head, Accessibility Engineering Evangelism. I began Accessibility Camp Toronto in 2011 and Accessibility Camp Bay Area in 2014; and co-founded the Boston Accessibility Unconference in 2010 and Accessibility Camp Los Angeles in 2012. In addition, I co-founded the annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) as well as the Toronto Accessibility and Inclusive Design Meetup in 2012, and founded the Bay Area Accessibility and Inclusive Design Meetup in 2014. Recognition of my professional, research, and community efforts include being: honoured by RBC and the Government of Canada with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012, and by the American Foundation for the Blind with the 2018 Stephen Garff Marriott Award; as well as named in 2020 by Business Insider as ''1 of 30 power players helping new CEO Ryan Roslansky run LinkedIn'' and by Diversability to their D-30 Disability Impact List.
