Jhonathan David is an International Risk Management and Data Science Leader with 13 years of experience in banking and financial services. Expertise in commercial and investment banking, in enterprise strategy and execution of data solutions in portfolio management , data & model risk, credit risk, and regulatory compliance & controls. Public speaker, published writer and published author in industry , and host of the Data Science Real Applications Podcast , available on Spotify and iTunes. Jhonathan leads and motivates global multi specialty teams delivering strategic risk management, portfolio management, data model risk management, regulatory compliance and controls, mergers and acquisitions, and industry thought leadership publishing. He is a Management Executive Leader at Grant Thornton, a Global Advisory firm, based in New York City. Jhonathan earned his B.B.A., in International Business Finance from the University of Houston, receiving his M.B.A from Tulane University, graduating with honors from both institutions. He holds Certifications in Data Analytics by the General Assembly of New York City, Credit Risk by Moody’s Omega Performance, Lean Six Sigma by Genpact International, and Data Sciences by the New York City Flat Iron School for Data Sciences. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Jhonathan served in roles , including being a Senior Portfolio Manager and Risk Officer at Provident Bank, before that a Team Leader and Subject Matter Expert in Data and Credit Risk , for Digital Transformation audits at Genpact International (a global AI services firm), before that a Credit Risk Portfolio Manager for BBVA Bank. Notably, managing a $1 Billion portfolio in commercial banking, and a $700 million portfolio in private banking for securities backed financial programs - beginning his career at Bank of America. Jhonathan hosts the data science real applications Podcast from the Cornell Club of New York City. Jhonathan has been awarded 5 times in leadership by the profit and non-profit sector, including MD Anderson Cancer Center, The Rockwell Fund, Tulane University, and The University of Houston. Jhonathan has gained multi-cultural experiences in Mexico, Colombia, China, India, Switzerland , and the USA, which has allowed him to develop a unique ability to solve problems in diverse, challenging scenarios and market environments. He is multilingual, being fluid in Spanish, English, and computer languages. Jhonathan is actively involved in the community he lives and supports non-profit fundraisers for cancer research and youth scholarships.
