Bio

I am the Chief of Staff at the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), a position I have held under two national presidents since 2006. I am responsible for coordinating the research, collective bargaining, public policy, and legislative activities of the union at the direction of the NALC's national president and members of its Executive Council, who serve the union's 290,000 members across the United States. I joined the NALC staff in 1985 as an economist and served as the union's research director from 1990 to 2006. I've participated in nine rounds of collective bargaining with the U.S. Postal Service. I have served since 2003, first as Chair and then as Vice Chair, of the Employee Thrift Advisory Committee, a body that advises the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board. I represent NALC at the AFL-CIO and as an executive committee member of UNI Global Union (UNI), a Swiss-based global trade union federation comprised of hundreds of affiliated postal and service sector unions around the world. I am a founding activist of the National Vote at Home Coalition, which advocates vote by mail, accessible elections and voting rights, and I work closely with the National Vote at Home Institute.
