As HSBC’s Chief Data and Analytics Officer, Kate is responsible for the effective use of data and technology to enable the business to understand, anticipate and meet the needs of our customers. Kate also sits on the board of HSBC UK as a non-executive director. The Data and Analytics Office (DAO), which Kate has led since its inception, exists to transform HSBC into a truly data-driven organisation. Her team provides the leadership to ensure that data and analytics are at the forefront of business strategy, and that every design decision considers data at its heart. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders across the Group, they connect the processes, products and services that underpin our business success. DAO has a mission to drive simplicity and standardisation, and to improve data and technology literacy throughout the organisation. Kate’s vision is for every HSBC employee to understand the crucial role that data plays in delivering HSBC’s strategy, because only then will our customers truly experience the value of a bank that puts data at its heart. Kate joined HSBC in 2017 as Chief Data Architect and subsequently Chief Architect for Technology Domains, where she was responsible for setting and executing architecture strategy covering data, machine learning, cyber security, infrastructure and application domains. Prior to HSBC, Kate held several multi-disciplinary technology leadership roles in financial services, previously working at Morgan Stanley, Barclays and JP Morgan. She is a member of the Technology Advisory Board of Quantexa, a strategic partner to HSBC in the data and analytics space. Kate holds an MBA degree with concentration in Finance, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Franklin University (Columbus, Ohio, USA).
