Katherine P. Black is a data-driven strategist who creates strategic advantage with data assets. At the heart of her work is a relentless focus on understanding customer behavior and applying those insights to create pathways to growth because she believes that data gives a voice to every customer. Her work centers on three things: 1) Building data assets that transform the profitability profile and valuation of retail and consumer companies through organizing existing data assets, designing new data strategies and building owned assets through innovative loyalty programs and acquisition programs. 2) Developing data-driven strategies and teaching companies how to deploy their data assets to better price, promote, assort and deliver customer personalization and experience. 3) Creating large-scale monetization programs across multiple assets including media, supply chain data monetization and insights monetization. In addition, Katherine works with B2B data and services companies to maximize their growth through new product line strategies, go-to-market plans, and improving commercial effectiveness and pricing. Her strategies drive sales 3-5pp growth in mature businesses and she has launched new lines of business that have achieved 10-30% incremental revenue in year one. In addition to her professional services career, Katherine has significant experience as an operational leader. In this context, she has a track record of achieving aggressive sales growth while maintaining bottom-line targets. Her experiences include growing businesses from $0-$25M and $150M-$250M with full P&L ownership. She also thrives in leading teams to their optimal performance by creating an empowered culture rooted in purpose. She has led commercial and technical teams of 50-400 people. She has been awarded a number of honors in her career including Retail Leader’s honor roll of “Top Women to Watch in Retail” (2017), DMNews’ “40 Under 40” list (2012) and is a founding member of Chief. She is passionate about empowering the disabled to find dignity through work and, in that context, serves on the board of directors for Goodwill NY/NJ.
