Ken Fleming is Senior Vice President of BP Energy Co. in charge of power origination across the Americas, based in New York City, NY. Ken brings a unique perspective to his role, having spent the early part of his career in power plant construction and strategic planning for a regulated electric utility. Ken made the switch to deregulated markets in 1998 and held several roles in origination at PGET, TXU, and Integrys Energy Company before coming to BP in May of 2010. Over the course of his career, he has managed the closing of hundreds of energy transactions, both physical and financial, in all the US markets. These transactions have included load following products, tolling arrangements, renewable energy purchases, credit structures, and a variety of complex option structures. In addition to his Senior Vice President role in origination, Ken is also the regional office leader for BP’s Manhattan office. BP’s customer-driven business has steadily grown since Ken joined nearly twelve years ago. The BP Power Origination Team conducts business with investor owned utilities, municipals, cooperatives, generation asset owners, retail energy providers, and some of the world’s largest private equity firms.
