Bio

Change in this digital era is fast-moving and inevitable, but some things remain constant: global threats to digital assets are persistent, non-discriminating, and continue to challenge our boundaries of Trust. For a transformative executive like myself, there has never been a more exciting time to be in this business. At its heart, digital security is about Trust. As CSO of Amazon Devices & Services, my work encompasses all aspects of Trust, including trusted products, platforms, and operating environments. Trust has always been the ecosystem in which we engage with each other. It’s ephemeral—hard to earn and easy to lose. Over the past 26 years, I have observed and influenced an incredible evolution of the role Trust plays in the practice of digital security, which continues to shape what today’s enterprises are experiencing. More recently, our mass migration to cloud has transported us into a partnership era where conversations are no longer just internal—it is a joint trusted collaboration between cloud providers and customers. Today, we operate in the era of 'Digital Trust', which encompasses how people and processes interact with content, in an ecosystem where frictionless security and compliance are intrinsic—that is, built-in, not bolted-on. Through this lens, trust becomes a way of being, a game-changer that revolutionizes commerce and engagement, without imposing constraints on a tech-enabled workforce that demands growing flexibility. Trust and security are still a work-in-progress, and so is the role of a CSO. As security becomes more embedded in everything we do, security leaders have a more critical role to play in digital transformation and solving problems differently. I have the privilege of helping leadership teams navigate their way to trusted operations, in a work environment that is often defined by disruption. With an increasing number of people creating, sharing, and accessing content in new ways in today’s world, it is important to infuse secure transformations into the ethos with which we enable our customers. My own goal is to keep evolving as well, which I do through my network and community. I am a proud champion of Women in Tech, exec sponsor of Veterans, and committed to helping develop the next-gen pipeline of workforce talent. I am also energized by working with non-profit organizations to amplify our shared purpose, and including Trust & Safety/ESG as key pillars for next-gen cybersecurity efficacy. As quickly as things move, it’s never been more important to evolve. How can I transform your Trust evolution?
