I have no interest in pitching an Insta-fabulous version of myself like I am real-estate. I am simultaneously talented and flawed. Here is a cut down version of my ''user manual'' I openly publish to my team on a wiki and allow them to edit my strengths and weaknesses. Likes • Conversations that start with an hypothesis or proposition • E-mails that start with an explicit ask and are short • Thinking that starts with an expansion into possibility, before being pruned back into feasibility • Customer-first attitudes, that are never-the-less deeply informed by commerciality. We are smart enough to simultaneously serve our customers and our shareholders • Challenging our limiting beliefs. Sometimes letting go of what we know is necessary to take a bolder step into possibility • Radical honesty. Bad news never gets better with time. If you are honest and timely you are SAFE. There is nothing so bad that we can't get through together • Gratitude: If Elon musk were born in a refugee camp, he would be the smartest reseller of rations on the block. But for a flip of a coin, that could be us... i on a universal scale, we are all outrageously lucky Dislikes • Having my butt kissed • Acting from selfish intention Expect me to • Provoke with questions • Push quite hard to get you to be your best. Sometimes your development will feel like you are out of your depth. I am watching and won't let you drown Strengths • I gain immense satisfaction from watching people grow • I listen quite well and don't need to be the smartest person in the room • I try to create space for creativity • I very rarely get genuinely angry • I back my team and am unlikely to throw anyone under the bus • I am relatively good at joining the dots in the big picture • I generally manage to find mutually acceptable paths through conflict Weaknesses and blind-spots • I'm not as well organised as I could be • I'm naturally somewhat conflict avoidant • I am not as good as I should be with recognition and formal R&R • My balance between delegation and DIY could be better... I am OK to be told this • I sometimes over commit • I sometimes (albeit rarely) please no-one by trying to please everyone. Other Core Beliefs • Work should be safe, equitable and satisfying • It is a privilege to work in a role that allows genuine decision making for a top 10 company. • People should change roles every 1.5 - 2.5 years. • Women tend to be structurally disadvantaged by the disproportionate impact of family obligations on career continuity and consequentially, should be given additional support to thrive
