Originally from a construction and maintenance contractor background, I have worked in the capacity of client at a housing provider for over 21 years. My employer Coastline Housing has actively encouraged my enthusiasm to explore innovative approaches to rectify the issues experienced by our customers. I am a customer focused professional with a technical background who has built new partnerships with external organisations that have shared beliefs and commitments. In my previous role as Head of Technical Services, I recognised some years ago that innovation and technology advances provide huge opportunities for housing associations, not only in terms of asset management, but perhaps more importantly in supporting the more vulnerable in society as they manage their often complex lives and needs. During 2012 I started further exploring the potential of self-diagnostics, comparing the progress of car and other manufacturing markets developing and using new technology. I then drafted initial concepts for assets to report their own faults and monitor their own performance. For me this was a side-line project, something of personal interest which helped protect customers and homes. I have also worked very closely with the University of Exeter Medical School on health and wellbeing projects; Smartline is now recognised as the largest project of this type in the UK, potentially the world. Memorable projects include: - Helping to create the Advantage South West procurement club - Securing £4m for the Community Energy Saving Project (CESP) - Winning Best Individual at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards - Keynote Speaker at CIH Manchester - Keynote Speaker at the Smart Social Housing - Internet of Things: Making sense of sensors 2018 Other Projects 2006 then 2017 - Procured and developed two innovative 10 year agreements for heating and electrical work 2010 - Set up Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Partnership with Coastline Housing 2013 - Started Coastline's first work with University of Exeter 2015 - Coastline Housing’s £1.3 million Central Heating Fund win 2015 - The creation of information, relationships and concepts that would become Smartline 2016 - Coastline Housing secures national accreditation for gas safety, a first in Cornwall 2017 - Triple win for Cornwall’s Coastline Housing and Kensa partnership 2017 - CSL Painting and Repairs Contract 2018 - Identified in top Tech Leaders in Inside Housing 2018 - Keynote presenter at Internet of Things Conference in Gloucester 2019 - Secured Smartline 2 funding 2019 - Presented as keynote at CIH Manchester
