Mark has extensive experience managing the use of open source software to both maximize benefit and mitigate risk. Open source software has multiple organizational benefits that include reducing costs; accelerating innovation; accelerating product adoption; strengthening an organization’s brand; and facilitating the attraction/retention of highly skilled technical staff. Some of his responsibilities include: • Managing an End-to-End cross function open source and third party IP compliance program (development to customer) • Manage development of a SaaS based system to track and dashboard usage of third party IP (including all open source) • Manage the open source contribution program • Develop, implement and enforce IP policies and supporting processes • Deliver open source training to engineering, legal and marketing professions • Advise Engineering, Legal and Marketing on open source technical and licensing matters * Manage Open Development Initiative (Innersource) • Contributor to the Linux Foundation's Software Package Data Exchange (SPDX) project • Contributor and specification lead of the Linux Foundation's OpenChain project • Speaker at various Open Source conferences and summits annually
