Bio

I am a technology leader with over 20 years experience working for global financial services companies, in roles spanning hands-on coding, agile software development, engineering team management, technology strategy, through being a CTO at a small ISV to a senior leader at a FTSE100 company. My experience is grounded in financial maths, working in front office roles across the City of London in fixed income risk & pricing technologies for 15 years before coming back to my roots in the West Country. However, as I've got older, wiser (possibly?) and greyer (definitely!), I've come to realise that what interests me most professionally is building & empowering high performing teams, and today I can usually be found wrangling people problems rather than numbers. My unofficial job title is Chief Cat Herder, but I wouldn't have it any other way. What makes me happy is helping my teams lives get incrementally easier through making delivering technology simpler & smoother, solving all those problems that have nothing to do with technology and everything to do with us all being human. What I have been most proud of over the years is having the chance to give colleagues opportunities to grow, and coaching & mentoring now make up major parts of my role.
