Michael Pollock oversees all economic studies performed by Spectrum, including impact studies for governments, and feasibility studies for private-sector clients. His international work includes projects in Cyprus, Spain, Greece, Guam and Korea. He leads Spectrum's work as Executive Director of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS). Spectrum Gaming Lottery Group He served on the faculty of New York University, Rutgers University and Stockton University. Pollock began analyzing the casino industry in 1978 and served as spokesman for the New Jersey Casino Control Commission from 1991-1996. During this period of deregulation, his charge was to maintain public confidence in the integrity of the regulatory system. Pollock wrote the award-winning book, Hostage to Fortune: Atlantic City and Casino Gambling, published by the Center for Analysis of Public Issues in Princeton, which examines gaming's impact on Atlantic City and New Jersey. Pollock publishes Spectrumetrix, a detailed, robust data service that is the successor to Gaming Industry Observer, a nationally recognized, award-winning newsletter that focused on trends that impact the gaming industry. Pollock founded and is a producer of the prestigious East Coast Gaming Congress. He has testified on regulatory issues before numerous legislative agencies from the Brazil Chamber of Deputies to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Indian Gaming, and has been a featured speaker at the Congressional Gaming Caucus, a group of U.S. House of Representatives members from gaming jurisdictions. He has also testified numerous times before various state legislative committees on gaming matters. Pollock has been a featured speaker at gaming conferences around the world, from New York to London, and from Sao Paolo to Mexico City and beyond. He has served as an expert witness in numerous litigation matters around the world, from Croatia to The Hague to the World Bank, among others.
