I am a Software Engineer with sixteen years of experience obsessing over users and the way my products improve their lives. From workload management, to industrial analytics, to api design, and service mesh, my process always involves leveraging qualitative and quantitative user data to build User Empathy in myself and my team, so that together we can engineer the best possible solution for our users. While some of my work has been complex (I once built a Sparse Merkle Tree in golang), often the biggest wins for users are technologically simple, such as expanding Istio's support window to allow a six month upgrade cadence, reducing toil by 50% for hundreds of thousands of clusters using Istio. My career has taken me from a 100 year old financial services company, to a startup, and to some of the largest software firms in the world. Most recently, I've had the privilege of working on the Cloud Native stack, which aims to take some of the best-in-class tools I've worked with, which were largely internal to large software firms, and make them accessible to everyone via open source. I'm proud of the role I have played in this effort, and can't wait to see what comes next!
