I'm a computer scientist / software engineer / innovator. Most of my jobs over the last 10+ years have been leading technical teams in fast-paced groups inside of IBM. Most of my projects have included concretizing new research with direct application to product development. The consistent component has been innovation. More recent projects include highly-performant API enforcement and management for GraphQL and REST APIs. Older projects include a framework for fast development of compilers, JSON parsing, JSON Schema validation, XML appliances, fast XML parsing, validation, deserialization, Web-Services processing, virtual file systems, the world's first automated scoring systems for the web, an easy-to-program fully-functional Windows GUI programming environment, a highly-scalable pub-sub system, a highly-pluggable and skinnable instant messaging client, etc --- many areas, but always trying to extend that area in an important way that had not been done before. Other than designing and implementing novel solutions, I have dealt with some of our biggest customers as a Customer Advocate and led patent activities for dozens of engineers as an IBM Master Inventor. In my big trip away from software, I decided the best thing I could do for IBM was to improve recruiting and image with top students --- I founded the IBM Extreme Blue Program, with a couple of others. My goal is to keep working on fast-paced teams that are pushing new and innovative projects.
