Mriganka Saxena is an Architect and Urban Designer and Founding Partner of Habitat Tectonics Architecture & Urbanism (HTAU). She has over twenty years’ experience in the field of urban design and planning in UK and India. She has worked extensively with both public and private sectors with a focus on design-led policy and tools for effective delivery in the areas of Transit Oriented Development (TOD), Mobility, Sustainable Master planning and Restoration of Natural Water Resources. Her expertise is in preparing urban strategies and enabling frameworks for city level initiatives. In the public sector, Mriganka has worked as Senior Consultant with the Delhi Jal Board, Government of Delhi where she led an ambitious project of restoring existing waterbodies and drains in Delhi. She put in place the approach and methodology, strategy for roll out, enabling frameworks and SOPs, and projects are now getting delivered. While working with UTTIPEC in Delhi Development Authority, Mriganka co-authored the ‘Delhi Masterplan 2021 Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Policy’, the first ever to be adopted in the country and redrafted the ‘Delhi Masterplan 2021 Policies on Transportation and Parking’. Mriganka has also authored the paper ‘Governing Water – Appropriate Governance structures for effective Management of Water Resources in India’, as Research Fellow at the Yamuna River Project, University of Virginia. Mriganka is currently an Urban Planning / Design Expert with the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC), the nodal agency for redeveloping over 8000 stations in the country. She has been visiting faculty at the Department of Urban Design in the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi since 2010. Mriganka received a B.Arch degree from TVB School of Habitat Studies in New Delhi and an MSc. in City Design and Social Science from the London School of Economics (LSE).
