Studied a BSc Computing at the University of Portsmouth. Undertook an industrial placement year at Eli Lilly & Co, focused on delivering IT Solutions for Scientists. Offered back as a Graduate, working as a Product Owner for Lilly's modern Cloud platforms & tools such as Heroku, Contentful, GitHub, Jenkins & Artifactory. Focused on maturing these platforms & tools from a customer experience perspective; whilst driving better value for the business. Additionally, leading the strategy and execution of Lilly's innerSourcing journey, around applying open-source principles within a large enterprise, promoting re-use and a developer community. Moved onto becoming a Software Engineering team lead, running an engineering team specifically focused on creating enterprise DevOps and Accelerators. Outside of work I enjoy developing Node.js applications, with a real focus on user experience and building well-engineered solutions. First developed a passion for building web applications by working as a Junior Web Developer at Letting Search in 2012; learning the basics of JavaScript and jQuery in addition to understanding how the web was disrupting business. Started to explore Offline Web with service workers and the power of building offline first. Also looking into Preact vs React and the importance of building small and simple applications. Understanding that there are times and places for complex frameworks is important.
