Niklas Arvidsson is Professor at the School of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Niklas holds a Ph.D. in International Business from the Stockholm School of Economics (1999) and a MBA in Finance from the Stockholm School of Economics (1991). He has been working at the Royal Institute of Technology since 2007, and prior to that he worked in a research project called the New Division of Labor at the National Institute of Working Life. He is published in journals such as Organization Science, Management Science, Scandinavian Journal of Management and Innovation: Management, Policy and Practice. He has also edited and contributed to books published by John Wiley & Sons, Earthscan and Oxford University Press. He has extensive experience as a consultant after having worked four years as a senior consultant the Service Management Group (SMG) and close to two years as an independent consultant. Current research His research area is innovation and learning within organizations and systems with a particular focus on innovation in the area of payments. This is manifested in research projects such as: • The cashless society • Innovation of money Previous research projects in the same area include the Future of the Payment System and a project focusing on a proof-of-concept test of a service for mobile payments. Current and recent teaching He has been teaching close to 20 years with a focus on strategy, innovation, organization and leadership.
