Early on in my career, it became clear to me that the startup ecosystem has a glaring psychological gap, one that affects both major stakeholders in the ecosystem- founders and investors. The Founders: who are under constant pressure to make high-risk decisions in high-pressure environments, are often in dire need of a safe space to take off the mask, authentically share, vent and brainstorm. The VCs: primarily early-stage investors who profess that the founding team is the most vital aspect to a startup’s success, but rarely have a professional figure dedicated to analyzing, understanding, and coaching those very people that make or break a startup. Understanding this: the need for a figure, fluent in the jargon and culture of the tech ecosystem, to provide psychological support and guidance to both investor and founder, I paved my way to becoming a Startup Psychologist. Today I am the Operating Partner at F2 Venture Capital, practicing my dream of Startup Psychology, where I mentally support our founders, understand startup team dynamics, and coach founders through change for peak performance.
