I have spent twenty years working at the cutting-edge of innovation to tackle societal challenges, with fifteen of those years focused on healthcare and digital health. I have worked as a policy maker for the UK Government, in the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit under Tony Blair and the Department of Health, and as a strategic investor in health innovation in the London healthcare system, overseeing a portfolio of investments and grants worth over £100m (such as a £11m integrated care programme that reduced emergency bed day use by 18% vs the wider London trend). For the last six years I have worked as a strategist and applied ethicist in global digital health. I am proud to have been part of the founding executive team of Koa Health, working closely with product, commercial, and R&D teams to translate Koa’s vision of Mental Health for All into reality. Highlights included helping to raise €50m for Series A and supporting R&D collaborations that led to groundbreaking research, including a publication in Nature Medicine. As Koa’s former Head of Ethics, I’m particularly pleased with how we were able to put ethical principles into practice, including learning some hard lessons about trade-offs. Now I use my expertise and experience to support a wide range of people and organisations in the UK, US, Spain, and beyond. I work with starts-ups and healthcare (and other) organisations on innovative strategies, including long-term vision, business plans, and go-to-market strategies; advise on how to make a reality of ethical technology, both developing ethical principles and putting them into practice; and partner with think tanks to develop cutting-edge policy approaches for a rapidly changing world.
