I'm really outstandingly good at three things, writing, speaking, and learning. That gets me into and out of a lot of trouble. I'm very much an autodidact and a polymath. Hand me a job, and I'll figure out how to do it, and then how to do it better. For the last few years, I've been working mostly in technical marketing. I am to marketing what a sales engineer is to sales. I've also been diving deep into data analytics architectures at many companies, learning patterns and principles, what works and what doesn't. I write fantasy and science fiction and technical industry articles, white papers and such. I've written for ''Space and Time Magazine'' for ''Information Management'' for ''TDWI BI Journal'' and RTInsights. https://www.rtinsights.com/author/paige-roberts/ Contributor - 97 Things Every Data Engineer Should Know - O'Reilly Co-author with Ben Epstein - Accelerate Machine Learning with a Unified Analytics Architecture - O'Reilly, sponsored by Vertica I speak at several tech events globally for the last 4 years. Popular enough speaker that I get good reviews on audience surveys, so frequently I'm often invited back year after year. In my 27 years in the data wrangling industry, I've learned how to: Program in several languages (how many depends on how you define a language) Create and edit video Condense a complex technical point into a 5 word bullet that a CEO will care about Write technical articles and white papers that won't bore you to tears Give structure to unstructured text data Build a Hadoop cluster from bare metal Design a re-usable multi-purpose analytics architecture that won't break the budget Get EDI to talk to 30 yr old COBOL mainframe applications and vice versa Contribute to the conversation when PHD data scientists talk shop Explain the differences between Spark, Tez, MapReduce, Apex, and Flink And a whole lot of other random stuff that comes in handy now and then.
