I help protect the legal interests of customers and service providers of technology and outsourced services. Advising on the legal implications of emerging technologies, such as blockchain and the internet of things (IoT), forms part of my practice. This involves applying my 20+ years of technology, outsourcing, e-commerce and commercial law experience to the areas of insurance technology (InsurTech) and financial technology (FinTech), among other areas. Maintaining industry knowledge, being practical, and offering creative solutions are some of my core values in providing on-point, customized advice to address my clients’ legal needs. Digital identity and open banking are examples of some areas I stay current and speak on. Also, I am passionate about: 1. Legal Innovation – I sit on Gowling WLG’s Innovation Council. We find ways to better meet our clients’ evolving legal needs. 2. Women Leadership – This includes causes relating to the advancement of women in business, and entry by young girls in careers where women are traditionally underrepresented. I speak frequently at various industry and legal conferences (e.g., I have presented at the Ontario Bar Association, the American Bar Association and le Congrès des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario).
